The Toyama Memorial Museum is located in an old residence built by Genichi Toyama, the founder of Nikko Securities, one of the largest securities companies in the world. It was constructed in his hometown for his mother, and the beautiful seasonal garden and the various archetypal Japanese-styles such as sukiya-zukuri architecture have earned it recognition as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Visitors can enjoy the charming design of the traditional Japanese house and its garden, as well as learn the story behind its creation. Additionally, there is a display of 11,000 art pieces and handicrafts collected by Toyama himself. Through all this, you’ll be able to feel the dedication and sensibilities held by this remarkable businessman, and understand what he cherished in life.
