Sightseeing Spots

It is a core facility for promoting the culture of bonsai and is the world’s first public museum specializing in bonsai. To spread the culture of bonsai, which is designated a traditional industry of Saitama, along with bonsai, bonki (vase), suiseki (rocks) and paintings of bonsai can also be enjoyed in this diverse exhibit. Toda Park was built between 1937 and 1940, centered around a rowing course which is the largest artificial still water course in Japan. Established as a city park after the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, it is used as a training area and competition venue for rowing, while also providing a relaxing environment filled with nature for the local citizens. The park is adjacent to the bank of the Arakawa River and also has an elevated plaza, flower beds, and lots of playground equipment, making it popular for not only its rowing course.

"Saiko" is a park developed along the Arakawa riverbed retention basin that's filled with nature; with the blooming of Japanese primrose and the beautifully maintained fields, visitors can relax and enjoy the change of the seasons. There is a spacious BBQ area where visitors can choose between a free area with no reservation required, and an area with BBQ prepared which requires a reservation. There are also tennis courts, dog friendly spaces, fishing spots and the lakeside area is a popular spot for cycling and windsurfing. With easy access by car, the park attracts more than one million visitors a year!

This is the largest poppy flower field in Japan, spanning about 12.5 hectares. At the Poppy Festival in mid-May, you can enjoy refreshments, regional vegetables, and of course, flower picking! The view of Mt. Fuji from under the Onari bridge by the Arakawa river, where the field can be found, is known as one of the best views of Mt. Fuji. A truly spectacular and scenic view of red, pink, and orange poppies blooming all around you.

Eight of the total sixty-one kilometers of the Motoara River run through the Fukiage area. There are seventeen bridges on the river, including the Shinsaga Bridge, a Civil Engineering Heritage Site selected by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. Many of the bridges are decorated with poems and sculptures, making exploring them a perfect activity for some leisurely sightseeing!

The railway museum opened on October 14th, 2007 in Ōmiya, Saitama as part of Japan Railways (JR) Group’s 20th-anniversary commemorative project. The South Building was newly opened in July of 2018, with the permanent exhibition of the main building renewed extensively. Through this renewal, the inside of the building has been divided into stations of 5 categories: rolling stock, history, job, science, and future, updating the museum to tell the rich story of the relationship between humans and railways from a unique and diverse perspective.

This district park is known for its stunning lawn of green grass and 18-hole golf course. In addition to the golf course, there is also a children's area, a multipurpose plaza, and a parkway that can be used for jogging and other activities. The park enables people from different generations to meet and enjoy spending a relaxing and healthy time together outdoors.

This dairy farm allows visitors to experience farm life and enjoy freshly made gelato ice cream and yogurt. In addition to dairy cows, the farm is home to a variety of animals, including chickens, Japanese Bantam (ornamental chickens), mini pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more. Kids can also play with toy cars and tricycles donated to the farm by locals. “Saitama City Iwatsuki Ningyo Museum” was opened in Saitama’s Iwatsuki Ward in 2020 and explores the history of dolls and their role in people's lives, promoting the culture of dolls for the future. We are working on a project to make dolls more familiar to people through exhibitions and activities, as well as collecting and storing documents related to dolls and researching about the culture of dolls. Located in the Kitamoto Nature Observation Park, this facility serves as a base for Saitama Prefecture’s nature learning and environmental education. Various events related to observation and nature experiences are hosted on primarily Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Inside the building, there are exhibits about nature and environmental issues and an information center filled with books related to nature. Staff are also stationed to provide information regarding nature within the park. There is a section on our website named “Park Journal,” where you can get daily updates on opening hours and events.

Ageo Maruyama Park was opened in 1978 with the theme "a harmony of greenery and water." It has a small animal corner, a children's amusement park, a barbecue area, a nature learning center, and a large pond, making it a popular place to visit.

This is the main facility of the SKIP City Project, the project goal of which is to introduce and accumulate information for the next-generation of the audiovisual industry. For the general public, the facility contains a participation-based "audiovisual museum" where people of all ages can learn video production, an "audiovisual library" where visitors can watch culturally significant movies and TV programs, and an "audiovisual hall" to enjoy film showings and various events. ※ For more information regarding the facility, please refer to the URL below.

Okegawajuku, home to cultural properties such as Takemura Ryokan (former Hatago) and the residences of the Shimamura and Kobayashi families, is reminiscent of the past Nakasendo post town. The safflower, Okegawa's specialty, brought wealth and culture to Okegawajuku, and can be seen at the Okegawa Inari Shrine on the stone lanterns donated by safflower merchants.

12 million cosmos flowers bloom on the 8.8 hectare fields along the Arakawa riverbank. Surrounded by a sea of cosmos flowers, you can enjoy an impressive view of the Chichibu mountain range and Mt. Fuji. The best time to see the cosmos flower is in mid-October, but poppies can also be enjoyed in May. At the Cosmos Festival in mid-October, the area is lively with stage events, refreshment stalls, and cosmos picking events.

The Museum of Modern Art Saitama (MOMAS) was opened in the rich greenery of Kitaurawa Park in 1982. A collection of superb art pieces is on display, with works from artistic masters such as Monet, Chagall, Picasso and modern Japanese artists. Special exhibitions with unique themes are frequently held, and there are many "good design" chairs that can be used freely. In addition, there are museum concerts, lectures, and workshops for both parents and children to enjoy. There are also museum shops with select art books and goods, along with a restaurant serving authentic Italian food, making the museum an ideal place for both fun and comfort. The date of its establishment is unknown, but it is said to have been built either in the Meiō period (1492-1501) or in the first year of Jokyo (1684). It is said that when a Buddhist priest named Genkai visited the Fushimi Inari, he built a sutra mound with 10,000 Lotus Sutras buried inside. In the precincts, you can also find a shrine dedicated to Shingoro Takahashi and his wife Ise, who developed Warabi's textile industry, and a heart-shaped stone known to grant visitors success in their pursuit of love.

This is one of the largest flower markets in eastern Japan. There is a guided course through the market facility, allowing visitors to easily observe the auction (Monday/Wednesday/Friday). There is also a restaurant inside the facility.

Enshrining Susanoo-no-Mikoto, the god of the sea and storms, this shrine is known to protect against evil and plague. Inside the shrine is a lion mask called the "Hirakata Lion" which is popular with locals. Every year in July, a mysterious festival is held called "Doroinkyo." This festival is designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by Saitama Prefecture. The giant zelkova tree and enoki mushrooms within the precincts are designated as natural monuments by Ageo City.

This comprehensive museum houses materials and artifacts related to Saitama's history, folklore and art, such as national treasure swords and daggers. The permanent exhibition introduces, "The Life and Culture of Saitama," through these topics, and themed special and planned exhibitions are held regularly. From the moment you pass through the Nagaya gate, you will find yourself in an atmosphere of peace and nostalgia in this old traditional house. In the garden, roses are in full bloom, and inside the facility there is a restaurant where visitors can enjoy a meal and a local produce specialty store for buying fresh vegetables. This is the perfect place for a relaxing time.

The temple was rebuilt by Seigon Shonin at the end of the 16th century and became one of eighteen monk training schools for the Jodo sect. As a temple associated with the Tokugawa Shogunate, the use of the "three-leaf hollyhock crest" was permitted. There are many cultural assets on the temple grounds that tell the ancient history in the present day. They hold the "Ten Nights Memorial Service," one of the three major memorial services in Kanto, every year on November 14, and the "Doll Memorial Service," unique to this town which is known for its hina dolls.

Visitors can learn about the rich nature and national treasures of Ina Town through the comprehensive exhibitions on local nature, geography, history and folklore on display.
