Area Guide
The western Seibu region of Saitama contains a treasure trove of attractions perfect for Tokyo day trips. Leading the pack is Kawagoe, known as “Little Edo,” where beautifully preserved streets echo deep connections with the Tokugawa Shogunate. Other favorites include Sakura Town in Tokorozawa, one of Japan’s biggest pop culture hubs; verdant tea fields producing the beloved Sayama tea in Iruma and Sayama; and the whimsical Moominvalley Park, a slice of Nordic charm in Japan, alongside a network of scenic hiking trails in Hanno. All these destinations are easily accessible via the Seibu Railway and other routes from Tokyo. Adding to the appeal is Ogawa, renowned not only for its UNESCO-recognized traditional Japanese paper (washi) making, but also as one of Japan’s leaders in organic farming.
