Tantoku, a lumber merchant, was founded in 1869 in Rokken-cho, Kawagoe city.
The hare" built by Tokujiro Suzuki, the first generation, and the 200 tsubos (1,860 ㎡) karesansui (dry landscape garden) are open to the public.

Recommended point

We have been running a lumber business in Kawagoe for generations since the Meiji era. Please enjoy the atmosphere of the good old days and relax in the Meiji style building made of lumber that only a lumber merchant can make use of and the Japanese garden of 200 tsubos, a space that has been preserved for generations.

Recommended point

While listening to the etiquette of the tea ceremony, you will be able to use a tea whisk to make your own matcha tea.

Recommended point

Wasanbon is a traditional Japanese confectionery with a history of over 200 years. Visitors will experience the process of sifting, molding, and unmolding wasanbon sugar. Please enjoy it with a cup of matcha (powdered green tea) prepared by yourself.
