Saitama City Omiya Bonsai Art Museum

The Museum of History and Folklore collects and stores documents related to Saitama’s history and folklore. Through conducting a comprehensive research investigation, the regional characteristic of Saitama is made visible and shared through exhibitions and online information. This makes the museum a place for learning-related activities and human interaction. In doing so, it contributes to the enrichment of life and the creation of a new culture for all citizens of the prefecture. The railway museum opened on October 14th of 2007 in Saitama Ōmiya as part of Japan Railways (JR) Group’s 20th-anniversary commemorative project. The South Building was newly opened in July of 2018, with the permanent exhibition of the main building renewed extensively. Through this renewal, the inside of the building has been divided into stations of 5 categories: carriage, history, work, science, future, changing the museum to tell the rich story of the relationship of humans and railways from a unique and diverse perspective.

We sell over 450 types of souvenirs that represent Saitama. Other than the regular Sōka Sembei (rice cracker), Koedo Kawagoe Imo (sweet potato) sweets, Ajino Sayamacha, local brew, there are traditional crafts and goods featuring Saitama Prefecture’s mascot “Kobaton”; we sell many popular products unique to Saitama area.

This is a district park known for its stunning lawn of green grass and 18-hole golf course. In addition to the golf course, there is also a children's area, a multipurpose plaza, and a parkway that can be used for jogging and other activities. The park is a space where people from different generations can meet and enjoy spending a relaxing and healthy time together outdoors.

Ina town has a rich history, still visible in the seemingly ordinary townscape of today, telling the tales of many hundred years ago. For example, you can find the ruins of the encampment used by the prominent leader Tadatsugu Ina, who served under the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period. Tadatsugu improved irrigation channels and developed rice fields, laying the foundation for the legendary Tokugawa rule that lasted 260 years. To this day, earthworks, moats, and streets remind us of the past through their names that relate to ruins of old gates, encampments, storehouses, and other historical structures. Excavations are still under process, and new finds, such as unique earth constructions made to hinder enemy troops, are being discovered, further revealing the exciting history of Ina town.
